In Tanzania, at least nine people were killed and another 51 were injured in a ferry wreck on Lake Tanganyika. This was reported by Xinhua with reference to the local police on Friday, June 26.
According to Martin Otieno, the captain of the police in the city of Kigoma, the incident occurred today at about 05:00 in the morning.

“The bodies of the dead were raised from the water,” said the police officer, adding that seven bodies belong to women, two more to men.
