Scientists name drugs that do not have a positive effect on patients with COVID-19
Lopinavir-ritonavir does not improve the survival of patients with coronavirus, established by British scientists.
For the treatment of coronavirus infection, a combination of lopinavir and ritonavir is useless. This is evidenced by the results of the British clinical study RECOVERY, published on June 29.
According to researchers, the drug commonly used for HIV does not have a positive effect on patients with COVID-19.
In the scientific work, they compared the data of 1,596 patients taking a combination of these drugs with the data of 3,376 patients from the control group.
It is noted that due to the complexity of the drug, the study was not conducted on patients connected to mechanical ventilation.
The RECOVERY study has been conducted since March of this year, 11.5 thousand patients participate in it. Over 100 days, results were obtained that showed that two drugs – hydroxychloroquine and lopinavir-ritonavir do not improve the survival of patients with coronavirus, while dexamethasone “saves lives.”
